In a society where everything is oversexualized but woman are still slandered for their preferences, Junon appears as a liberating ode to the feminine pleasure. They want it raw, real but most importantly fun. With very clear self-derision and their values in mind, they decided to launch their first « zine » called: Hystérique (Hysterical) and ask for the participation of various French artists. The first publication ‘Pussy Talk’ took inspiration from The Vagina Monologues wrote and play by Eve Ensler and more specifically the part where she asks: If your vagina could speak what would it says?
I asked myself this question and remembered all the time where women were labeled as too emotional to be taken seriously. I recall when teenage guys asked me: What’s up with you, are you on your period?
With this idea in mind, I realized that a vagina could look like an eye, which is often portrayed as the window to the soul, an open door to all emotions. I wanted to show period blood and represent it as tears. Angry Tears, which in French translate to ‘Larmes colère’. This illustration, however, is called ‘L ARME COLÈRE’ (the angry weapon). I intended it as a pun but it ends up representing the most valuable message of this piece: Tears are not a weakness, they are a strength.
