"Aphrodisiacs, myth or reality?" was the subject of the article I had to illustrate. An aphrodisiac is a substance that increases sexual desire, sexual pleasure, or sexual behavior. The name comes from Aphrodite the Goddess of Love, beauty, pleasure, passion, and procreation in Greek mythology.
Knowing this, I decided to work on a mythology concept and do a recreation of the painting The Birth of Venus from Renaissance Italian painter Sandro Botticelli. I replace elements from the painting with foods that are considered aphrodisiacs: the shell is replaced with oyster, the sea becomes melting dark chocolate, the plants transform into ginger and foods such as caviar and truffle were added to the composition to add texture.
